The role.

The Product Services Operations Manager is accountable for the successful delivery of Simitive Products. When the software development world is undergoing a seismic change with the impact of AI, the Product Services Operations Manager brings the knowledge of what is available, combined with the understanding of what is useful and the foresight to anticipate what is possible whilst maintaining the energy and motivation of the teams in successfully fulfilling their contribution to company strategy.

This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for the performance and delivery of the Teams, systems, tools and standards inherent in the design, development, maintenance, testing and quality assurance of all Simitive Products.

The Product Services Operations Manager will ensure that all products function and perform as expected at all times, whilst ensuring work is prioritised, coordinated and delivered efficiently and effectively, maintaining operational stability and high standards.

The role requires clear senior ownership of Product Services execution, acting as the bridge between strategic direction and practical delivery. The successful candidate will be comfortable operating at both leadership and technical levels, providing direction on engineering practices, delivery approaches, operational resilience, and product evolution.

Main responsibilities

What you will do.

Leadership & Line Management

  • Lead the Development, QA and Product Teams.
  • Line manage the Development Team, the QA Team Lead and the Product Team members.
  • Set clear expectations around accountability, delivery outcomes, quality and ways of working.
  • Support the teams, challenge assumptions and develop leaders within Product Services.
  • Create a culture of ownership, transparency, technical curiosity and continuous improvement, with a client centred mindset.
  • Coach teams to balance autonomy with team collaboration, and clear personal accountability for outcomes.

Operational Oversight

  • Ensure the effective and efficient running of Product Services, delivering high quality software in support of company strategy.
  • Own the execution of technology delivery across Product Services.
  • Ensure delivery commitments are realistic, agreed, prioritised and aligned to business objectives.
  • Maintain clear oversight of plans, milestones, dependencies, risks and delivery constraints.
  • Act as the initial escalation point for sequencing challenges, cross-team conflicts and prioritisation queries.
  • Take hands-on ownership of complex, high-risk or business-critical delivery situations where senior intervention is required.
  • Successfully manage the balance between capacity, delivery, operational stability, technical sustainability and strategic objectives.
  • Ensure operational readiness, supportability and resilience are considered as part of all change and delivery activity.
  • Oversee incident, problem and change activity to minimise business impact.
  • Act as senior technical and operational escalation during significant incidents, service failures or complex support scenarios.
  • Work with and understand the needs and challenges of the company and other functions within it.

Strategy Execution

  • Translate technology strategy and direction into actionable delivery plans.
  • Shape sequencing and delivery approach to maximise successful outcomes with available resources.
  • Ensure delivery activity reflects strategic priorities, architectural direction, capacity constraints and operational risk.
  • Surface delivery risks, technical risks and operational implications early and be capable of finding appropriate mitigations and solutions to support informed decision-making.
  • Help shape the technology roadmap by balancing business demand, product maturity and team skills.

Governance, Visibility & Reporting

  • Establish and maintain effective delivery governance across Product Services without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
  • Provide clear, concise reporting on delivery progress, risks, dependencies, technical health and operational performance.
  • Create visibility of risks, technical debt, product health and constraints so that priorities can be managed transparently.
  • Ensure senior stakeholders have confidence in Product Services' ability to deliver consistently and manage risk effectively.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify structural or systemic delivery or operational issues and take ownership for resolving them.
  • Improve delivery predictability, release flow, cross-team collaboration and operational outcomes.
  • Promote pragmatic ways of working that balance speed, quality, technical rigour and risk management.
  • Support ongoing improvement in Product Services' maturity in client awareness, technical practices, product quality and governance.

Technical Leadership

  • Contribute to architecture reviews, technical design discussions and key technology decisions where cross-team alignment or senior judgement is required.
  • Remain close to software delivery, understanding technical challenges first-hand and helping teams remove blockers that affect delivery, quality or service performance.
  • Champion scalable, maintainable and secure engineering practices, including appropriate use of AI, testing, monitoring and observability.
  • Maintain visibility of technical debt, platform health, system resilience and engineering investment priorities.

What we are looking for.

Essential skills

  • Previous experience as an Operational Manager.
  • Experience improving team maturity, delivery governance or operational effectiveness.
  • Comfortable operating between strategic planning, delivery leadership and detailed problem solving.
  • Experience balancing technical leadership, people leadership, operational oversight and delivery ownership.
  • Experience coordinating multiple delivery streams with competing priorities, dependencies and business stakeholders.
  • Ability to contribute meaningfully to technical discussions across architecture, application development, integration, operational support and platform resilience.
  • Strong understanding of modern software delivery practices, engineering standards, SysOps principles and IT operations.

Desirable skills

  • Experience with cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, automation, monitoring, observability and SysOps-aligned operating models.
  • Experience in organisations with mixed legacy and modern technology stacks.
  • Experience improving technical team maturity, delivery governance or operational effectiveness.
  • Experience contributing to platform modernisation, technology transformation or business-critical system improvement programmes.
